On behalf of the Garland, Texas Independent School District, I want to express our sincere thanks for Walgreens support of the Youth Achievement Foundation Inc. here in our community. Their mentoring and character developing program has been a true blessing for our students.

Youth Achievement Foundation began mentoring in our district exactly 10 years ago this coming March, at Williams Elementary School, with 11 students and nine mentors. As of today, they are providing mentoring for nearly 90 students per week on four of our campuses, ranging from elementary through high school. The Youth Achievement Foundation is unique as compared to other tutoring programs because they emphasize both academic and character formation and exposes our students to opportunities for learning that would not be otherwise possible. In these days when there is such a stress on school budgets and time in the classroom, we cannot rely solely on our teachers to give our kids a quality education. The how these mentors give our students is truly priceless. We cannot tell you how much we appreciate and rely on the support of community partners like you and the You Achievement Foundation, Inc. to provide our students with a quality education they deserve.
